T-rex

Description: T-rex fall into the group of Theropods. They walked on two legs and were carnivorous.

Habitat: T-rex lived in a humid, semi-tropical environment. Sometimes in open forests in coastal forested swamps.

Diet (carnivore or herbivore): T-rex was a meat eater and was on top of the food chain in its environment. It would have chased its prey and took huge bites of their flesh which would kill the prey, then devour it. Looking at an animal’s teeth can give you a lot of information on how it lived. In this case, dinosaur teeth can tell you how it obtained food and how much further digestion was needed.

Lifestyle: The T-rex, was an endothermic (warm blooded) which tells us it has a very active lifestyle. The average T-rex lived about 30 years.

How do we know this: T-rex certainly preyed on Triceratops. We know this because, Triceratops lived in the same location and at the same time. We also know this as researchers have found fossils which give distinct clues to T-rex killing Triceratops, such as fossilized poo found containing parts of Triceratops bone and fossils of a Triceratops with T-rex bite marks embedded in it.
